This is always a hard week for me. Father's Day and my Dad's birthday... I remember being a kid and all excited for this week to come. 15 years ago I lost my Dad. He passed from this Earth and went to Heaven. I still don't think that I have come to grips with that. He was always the one I could turn to and talk to about anything. He taught me so many things that I will carry with me always... But 2 in particular.

The first is to be the best parent that you can be. Talk to and really listen when you talk with your children. He always did this. I still remember the talks we had as I was growing up and some that we had after I had become a mother. I had my son as a teenager and my Dad was still there to talk, listen, and offer his advise. He always made time for me and I miss that time and hold those moments we shared in my heart.

The second is to enjoy the music that we are given and to listen to the lyrics. There are many different artists that I gravitate toward because my Dad listened and taught me to appreciate music. In music there are many gendre... Today there are even more than there were 15 years ago but he taught me to give it all a chance. I have to admit, that there are some things that I just can't relate to but I do try. I tend to relate to alot of the stuff that I grew up with and that my Dad enjoyed.

So yesterday, the day between Father's Day and his birthday, my wonderful fiancee decided to surprise me.
He left me a message to get ready to go out right after work but wouldn't tell me anything but that jeans and a t-shirt would be good attire... Oh and bring a hoodie.
We got into the car and on the way there he told me that we were going to see James Taylor. Now you have to understand... This is far from what he listens to... he is your typical metalhead and this type of music just puts him to sleep. LOL Knowing this just showed me how much he truely loves me.

At the end of the fantastic show, he commented on how a few songs that he knew weren't played. I agreed that there were a few but I didn't reveal to him until we were home that I was kinda glad they weren't played. I had a few moments at the show where the tears came but some songs I think just would have the tears POURING down my face.

I guess that the reason that I have decided to pick today to write this is to celebrate my Dad. I have been thinking of him more this week and thought that writing would help a bit.

So I want to end this with 2 things.

1. Dad, I hope that you know how much I love and miss you. Happy Birthday in Heaven.

2. Kenny, Thnak you for being the man that only you can be. You show me constantly that you are ALWAYS there for me in so many ways.

2 people in my life that have loved me, helped me through so much, and been a bridge over troubled water always.
